李玉梅副教授赴马里兰大学研修进展报告 ------西南大学“一流本科教学提升”2019年公派项目

         经过学校选拔和马里兰大学的在线面试,很珍惜申请到西南大学一流本科教学提升”2019年公派项目,并于同年94日奔赴美国,开始为期10个月的研修学习任务。

依据项目双语教学师资技能提升定位培训以及美国国务院对项目提出对当地历史文化考察的要求。抵美之后的秋季学期研修内容主要包括参与语言及教学技能提升方面的专题讲座、专题讨论、工作坊的室内活动共27场次,马大教师教育教学技能培训中心(TLTC)共5场次,马大农场、重点实验室参观学习共4场次,周末或假期历史文化考察共10次,两门专业课观摩每周各两次、每次75分钟,另外还在空闲时间参加马大经济系的小型研讨会(Seminar4场次。同时承担有国内工作任务

  五、专业课观摩 (Observing Academic Courses)

20199-12月,完成两门本科专业课的教学观摩,Money & Banking(货币银行学),Principles of Macroeconomics (宏观经济学原理),均由马里兰大学帕克分校经济系John Neri博士承担完成。每门课程上课时间均为每周两次、每次连续75分钟,其中《货币银行学》课程学生人数150人,《宏观经济学》课程学生人数160人,各自配有两位大一博士研究生作为助教,负责日常作业批改、试卷批改、答疑、登载课程成绩,其中要求每周固定答疑两个小时,任课教师每周固定一次的两个小时办公室答疑。教师极为重视整个课程教学的过程性评估的落实,具体包括出勤情况、课堂练习、课后练习、专题报告的课堂展示及参与度、两次期中考试,最终成绩评定还包括一次期末考试,所有的考试均为闭卷。强调理论密切联系实际,任课教师利用在咨询公司工作的资源,将与课程密切相关的实际部门工作人员请入课堂作为Guest Speaker进行相关专题讲解,并回答同学们提出的现实问题。

收获的是如何确保大班课程教学效果,需要对课堂教学活动内容,如讲授知识点、课堂练习及课后练习、专题题目的选定等进行精心而又精准的设计,严格执行具有一定弹性空间的过程性评估的多种方式方法,以最大限度满足不同学习能力或要求学生的实际需要,最大可能激发学生学习兴趣和挖掘学生学习的潜力。

  六、小型研讨会 (Seminar)

   除了项目所规定的研修内容以外,还尽量利用空闲时间参与马大经济系举行的小型研讨会(Seminar)共4场次。由于项目培训内容的限制,参与这项活动完全属于私自行为,感受到马大经济系浓厚、开放、友好、合作的科研氛围。

  七、国内工作

    克服12个小时时差困难,承担秋期学期《国际经济学》网络课程教学答疑及作业、考卷的批改工作,指导完成网院毕业论文18篇,指导完成全日制本科国贸和经济学专业共6位同学毕业论文开题,指导MBA两篇毕业论文写作,指导农推专硕两篇毕业论文写作,指导1篇科硕毕业论文写作。

总之,秋季学期研修内容针对性强,整个时间繁忙而丰富充实。

20201-5月)

    2020年1月-5月是马大春季学期,由于深受COVID-19的影响,学校于3月6号关闭校园,之后所有培训相关活动内容均改为线上进行。参加教学技能提升相关讲座和工作坊共13场次,马大教师教育教学技能培训中心组织工作坊2场次,第一轮全英文课程教学报告1次,文化考察1次,两门专业课观摩,另外利用空闲时间积极参加网络讨论会(Webinar)4场次。同时还承担国内相关工作。

 五、专业课观摩 (Observing Academic Courses)

 2020年1月-5月,完成两门本科专业课的教学观摩,即 International Trade Theory and Policy(国际贸易理论与政策)和 Globalization and Capital Markets (全球化与资本市场),分别由马里兰大学帕克分校经济系教师Scandizzo 和 Kim两位博士承担完成。其中第一门上课时间为每周三次、每次连续50分钟,第二门上课时间为每周两次、每次连续75分钟。两个班均为小班上课,其中《国际贸易理论与政策》课程学生人数46人,配助教1人,负责平常上课辅导、课后每周两小时的固定答疑、考前答疑辅导等辅助性教学工作;《全球化与资本市场》课程学生人数26人。两门课的任课教师均为每周固定一次的两个小时办公室答疑。这两门课的观摩主要是对接我所任教的《国际经济学》课程,马大是将《国际经济学》这门课程的国际贸易和国际金融两大部分内容分开成为独立的两门本科专业课程,注重课堂教学的讲练结合,实现专业知识与现实之间的无缝对接,师生之间沟通充分,培养学生独立思考能力和解决现实问题能力。

 同时,两位教师极为重视整个课程教学的过程性评估,结合自己的学知背景以及优势的不同,其落实的方式方法稍有不同。其中《国际贸易理论与政策》重在关注美国对外贸易方面的迫切问题,主要通过问题导向的课堂分组讨论、课后问题研究的课堂个人展示,了解学生对所学知识的理解和掌握程度;《全球化和资本市场》教师充分利用数学和统计学方面的知识优势,重在训练学生数据处理分析方面的综合能力,如何查询大数据,教会学生使用R语言,主要通过课堂作业练习、课后数据处理分析练习来实现。过程性评估相同的是都安排两次期中考试,还有一次期末考试,所有的考试均为闭卷。

 收获的是小班课程教学如何有效培养学生分析问题和解决问题方面的能力,需要结合课程内容特点和教师不同优势,对课堂教学活动内容,如讲授知识点、课堂讨论问题的选择、课后探究性问题的选择、大数据的来源及分析工具方法等方面把控好。严格执行具有一定弹性空间的过程性评估的多种方式方法,从不同角度培养学生所应具备的专业综合能力,激发学生学习兴趣。我积极参与两门课的课堂交流讨论,对学生有关中国对外贸易政策以及汇率政策方面的疑问进行了相应的解答,从专业知识角度引导学生客观认识和理解中国这方面的政策。

  六、网络讨论会 (Webinar)

         因受疫情影响,马大经济系举行的线下小型研讨会取消。在项目主任的引荐下,有幸参加George Washington University(乔治华盛顿大学)的Institute for International Economic Policy(国际经济政策机构)的Digital Trade & DATA Governance Hub(数字贸易与数据管理中心)疫情期间每两周举办一次的网络讨论会,共4场次。受项目培训内容限制,参与这项活动完全属于空闲时间的私下行为,丰富了访学内容,感受到高校研究机构与国家政府职能部门之间紧密合作的友好氛围,感受到高校研究机构浓厚的开放式讨论氛围,增加对大数据及应用安全方面的了解。

       Reema Patel, Head of Public Engagement at the Ada Lovelace Institute. The Ada Lovelace Institute (UK) is an independent research and deliberative body with a mission to ensure data and AI work for people and society.

       Dr. Melissa Flagg, Senior Fellow at the Center for Security and Emerging Technology (CSET) and an Adjunct prof. in the Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service Center for Security Studies at Georgetown University.

       Niral Bhargava, CEO NuEnergy AI, A Canadian ethical AI company.

七、国内工作

         克服12小时时差困难,承担国内春季学期的《国际经济学》网络教学答疑工作,指导完成2016级国贸和经济学本科专业毕业论文共6篇,指导完成MBA毕业论文2篇,指导完成农推专硕毕业论文2篇,指导完成科硕毕业论文1篇。

总之,春季学期虽受COVID-19关闭校园影响,但整个研修计划通过线上形式继续,基本未对访学任务产生实质性影响。

     访学最后一段时间的内容主要涉及的是全英文课程教学毕业汇报,以及回国前的一些杂务事情的处理。按照项目计划,应于2020年6月25日结束回国,因受新冠疫情影响没能如期回国,实际延期至2020年7月16号才启程回国。这段时间主要完成了第二轮也是最终的全英文课程教学报告1次,参加项目毕业典礼,利用空闲时间参加网络讨论会(Webinar)1场次。同时还承担国内相关工作。

四、启程回国

1.回国旅程。2020年7月16号经美国纽瓦克机场和17号荷兰阿姆斯特丹国际机场先后两次转机,于2020年7月18日入境广州

2.隔离观察。2020年7月18日至31日,成功顺利完成广州隔离。

3.回渝旅程。2020年8月1日抵达重庆北碚。

最后顺利完成研修任务,平安回国返校。
